Alhamdulillah!
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. We seek His guidance, His mercy, and His forgiveness. We bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His final messenger
Dear Brothers & Sisters
I would like to present a brief overview of some key points from the constitution and the terms and conditions of the South London Islamic Foundation, as agreed upon with the Charity Commission. Additionally, I will highlight relevant guidelines set by the Charity Commission for the South London Islamic Foundation, In Sha’Allah.
Following this, there will be a Q&A session where you are welcome to ask any questions regarding the South London Islamic Foundation. I will do my best to provide answers in either English or Bangla, based on your preference, while ensuring that all responses align with the constitution, terms and conditions, and the Charity Commission’s guidelines, In Sha’Allah.
Reminder of Life and Death
My dear brothers & sisters, I would like to begin by reminding myself and all of you about the reality of life and death. Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Qur’an:
“Every soul has to taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained success. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion?” (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:185) Death is a certainty for all of us, and our final resting place in this world is the grave. It is, therefore, our responsibility as an Ummah to ensure that every Muslim receives a dignified burial, especially those who are in need and without means.
The Need for a Muslim Graveyard in South London
Since 2019, we have been striving to establish a dedicated Muslim graveyard in South London. This initiative was born from a sincere intention to serve the Muslim community by providing a free-of-cost burial service for those in need, seeking only the reward from Allah (SWT).
With Allah’s grace, we officially registered as a charity in October 2024. Following this, we successfully opened a bank account in December 2024, allowing us to take the next steps towards fulfilling this noble mission.
Our Vision and Goal
Our goal is to establish a fully functional Muslim graveyard near the M25 in South London, a location carefully chosen for easy access. This cemetery will accommodate approximately 30,000 graves, distributed as follows:
• 50% of graves allocated to members of the South London Islamic Foundation and their families.
• 50% reserved for needy Muslims who require burial assistance.
This initiative is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity) that will benefit generations to come. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: a continuous charity, knowledge that benefits others, or a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim)
How You Can Support This Noble Cause
To make this project successful, we need your support. We humbly request you to become members of the South London Islamic Foundation and invite your family and friends to join as well.
• Membership Fee: £5 per month (non-refundable), regarded as Sadaqah Jariyah.
• Benefits: Ensures a dedicated burial place for you and your loved ones while supporting those in need.
• Payment Methods: Cash, standing order, direct debit, or bank transfer.
This membership fee is not a purchase of a grave but a contribution to establishing and running the graveyard. If we successfully establish the cemetery, members who have fulfilled the terms & conditions will be eligible for a burial space, In Sha Allah.
Eligibility and Grave Allocation
• The graveyard is exclusively for Muslims, in accordance with Islamic teachings.
• Priority may be given to those in financial need or without family support.
• Graves will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, unless otherwise determined by the managing committee based on necessity.
• No reservations or pre-purchases to ensure fairness for all Muslims in need.
Financial Target and Future Plans
Our goal is to raise £300,000 by December 2027, In Sha Allah. With your support, we will purchase the land and officially establish the Muslim graveyard.
After acquiring the land, we plan to:
• Develop cemetery infrastructure.
• Initiate full-scale burial services.
• Expand community support initiatives.
Future Projects of South London Islamic Foundation
In addition to the graveyard, we have two significant projects planned:
1. Establishing an Islamic Madrasah
o Offering residential and non-residential education for boys and girls.
o Incorporating UK educational guidelines alongside Islamic teachings and Quranic studies.
2. Building a Multi-Functional Mosque
o A center for daily prayers and Dawah (spreading Islamic knowledge).
o Facilities to support burial services and assist those in need.
A Reminder to Prepare for the Hereafter
Dear brothers in Islam, let us not forget that the grave is our first step towards our final destination. We must prepare for it with good deeds and sincerity. Allah (SWT) reminds us:
“And fear the Day when you will be returned to Allah. Then every soul will be compensated for what it earned, and they will not be wronged.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:281)
Today, we have an opportunity to be part of a project that benefits us in both this life and the Hereafter. Supporting this initiative is not just about securing a place for ourselves—it is about ensuring that our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters receive a dignified burial.
A Call for Unity and Support
Whether you are here today or unable to attend, we urge you to be a part of this historic effort. Whether you live in the UK or abroad, your support is crucial in making this project a reality.
We sincerely request each of you to join this noble cause, encourage your loved ones, and contribute whatever you can. May Allah (SWT) bless this initiative, make it easy for us, and accept it as a source of ongoing reward.
We ask Allah (SWT) to:
• Grant us sincerity in our efforts.
• Provide the means to establish this graveyard.
• Ease the affairs of our community.
• Reward all those who contribute and grant us Jannatul Firdaus.
O Allah, make this project successful. O Allah, make it easy for us. O Allah, accept our efforts for Your sake. Ameen.
Conclusion
My dear brothers & sisters in Islam, as we present here today, let us not allow this moment to pass without taking action. Death is an undeniable reality, and what we do now will determine our legacy and our standing in the Hereafter. This is not just an initiative—it is a duty upon us as an Ummah to ensure that every Muslim receives a dignified burial, regardless of their financial situation.
I strongly urge each and every one of you present here today to take this responsibility to heart. This is a historic opportunity to contribute to a cause that will serve generations to come. Whether through your duas, financial support, or spreading the word, your participation is vital. Do not delay, for time waits for no one, and our deeds are what will remain with us in the grave.
Let us come together in unity, with sincerity and determination, to make this project a reality. May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts, bless this noble cause, and reward us abundantly in this life and the Hereafter. Ameen.
Jazakumullahu Khairan.
Wa Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
